Ajamu/Biography

Ajamu is a fine art photographer and lens based media artist. His practice specialises in black male portraits, self- portraits and studio based constructed imagery. The work has been shown in galleries, museums and alternative spaces throughout the world including, New York, Sao Paulo, London, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam.

He has participated in numerous public lectures, panels, workshops and works have been published in a wider variety of publications/journals and advertising campaigns worldwide. 

Ajamu has been active within the Black Lesbian Gay, Bisexual and Trans community since the early 1990’s as an activist, workshop facilitator, project manager, play- party organiser and exhibition curator. He has delivered various projects on a freelance basis and in a volunteer capacity within and outside the field of sexual health.
